MONDAY'S PICK 50 DIME

MINNESOTA

Note From Steve Budin:

Minnesota has been a steady -3 1/2 point favorite all week as this play is posted around 1 AM Eastern Saturday morning.

If the line remains -3 1/2, or moves to -4 or even -4 1/2, buy down the 1/2 point in each situation.

Thus, if you reduce the price to -3, and the Vikings prevail by just a field goal, you walk away with a push.

If the price is moved from -4 to -3 1/2, and the Vikings win by four, you get the win.

And if the price is moved from -4 1/2 to -4, a four-point win by the Vikings results in yet another push.

Take it from a former bookmaker and the guy who fathered the offshore sportsbook industry that too many gamblers and handicappers needlessly buy half points on all types of numbers. In this case, however, it's a wise investment strategy, using the power of money - our bulging bankroll - against the bookmaker.

Why not buy a little extra insurance at a few cents on the dollar to protect your investment? As CEO of a multi-million dollar company I can tell you it's the right move, just like I knew it was the right move when as a bookmaker I saw smart players doing the same thing when the opportunity presented itself.

Monday's Play
30 Dime - Minnesota Vikings

Note - As I expected, the public has made its move on Minnesota, pushing this line up slightly by 1/2 point, up to 4 most places with a few 4 1/2's floating around. Obviously the key is shopping for the best price, but no matter the case, buy down the 1/2 point whether you get this game at 4, 4 1/2 (or 3 1/2 if you're lucky). My regular followers know I'm a firm believer in buying down on or around 4 because of the number of games that end 31-27, 28-24, 24-20, 17-13, 14-10, etc. And that's a trend that has only escalated over the years since the advant of the two-point conversion and its successful deployment.

GREEN BAY: 6-0 Over in dome games

GREEN BAY vs. MINNESOTA

Green Bay is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games
Minnesota is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Green Bay
Minnesota is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games when playing Green Bay

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota (-3)

Why Packers cover: They’re 4-0 ATS in their last four meetings and 5-1 ATS in their last six games in Minnesota. Underdog is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 meetings. Road team is 11-3 ATS in the last 14 matchups. Could get starting OT Chad Clifton back from injury.

Why Vikings cover: Brett Favre will be pumped up to face his old team for the first time since leaving Green Bay. Adrian Peterson could destroy the Pack's 23rd-ranked rush defense. In two games against Minnesota, Aaron Rodgers has only passed for 337 yards with one TD and one interception.

Total (46): Over is 12-5-1 in the last 18 meetings and 7-1-1 in the last nine meetings in Minnesota.

GREEN BAY/MINN (monday) OVER 45....2*
another game that fits this week 4 o/u strategy is of course the monday night game, but this GAME is gonna be so emotional its hard to tell to see which way this goes. you cannot tell me the d-line for green bay is foaming at the mouth to get at farve. the public has bet the opening total of 47 down to 45. green bay is an over machine in turf/dome games, they just lit the board up in stl, and i think they will continue here in minn, i like the over 45

4 Unit Play. #127 Take Green Bay +3 ½ over Minnesota (Monday 8:30 pm ESPN) It is the game that needs no introduction and will likely be the most watched event on ESPN EVER! QB Brett Favre faces his former team in the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings are atop the standing in the NFC North with a 3-0 record that included a dramatic come from behind victory last week against the San Francisco 49ers. In that game Favre through the go ahead touchdown with just two seconds remaining. That being said, the 49ers did cover that game and we had them as a selection and will go against the Vikings again in their second straight home game. QB Aaron Rogers played well in his game last week against the Rams throwing two touchdowns and numerous deep balls. I feel that these teams are evenly matched and this one will go right down to the wire with the Packers finding a way to win it in the closing seconds. One of the things novice gamblers get caught up when betting NFL games is the carryover effect. One would think that the Vikings will be riding high, but in truth there is no carryover effect. Everybody is a paid professional and momentum just does not propel teams to victory like it does in college football. Green Bay 27, Minnesota 24.

$2200.00 Take #228 Minnesota (-3.5) over Green Bay (8:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4)
This is my Game of the Week. This is also a play form my “99 System”. I won’t go into details about the system but it has been great so far. I like Minnesota to build off that big win at home over San Francisco last week and I think that playing at home here is going to be a big advantage. I think that Favre is going to be extra motivated to face his old team and his old coach for the first time, and Favre always plays is best on the big stage. The books are trying to bait Packers money by dangling that extra half-point on top of the three. We’re not biting. I like the Vikings by two touchdowns.
